Day 20: Picking Up The Pieces...

I have watched my almost 2 year old attempt this. She will pick up 1 piece, put it under her arm and then bend over to pick up another piece, then another. In the process, the first one falls and she has to start all over again. If this happens too many times, she get frustrated and starts crying. What happens when you go to pick up the pieces, clean up the mess only to find those same pieces falling over again? Have not quite found the answer…..

I liked the picture on gods-man post today. SO VERY OFTEN I feel like that picture. Things around me are not missing, pieces of me are missing or have fallen and I am trying to pick them back up. Despite my best efforts, over the past 6 weeks or so I have done very well with my exercise goals, but my nutrition has been thumbs down. I have not been keeping up with journaling, eating late at night, and worst of all eating too much artificial sugar. This week, my goal is to meet my fitness and nutrition goals by:

  1. Planning my workout
  2. Preparing meals in advance – all. We have our dinner menu for the week on the fridge!
  3. Maintaining my food journal.
  4. Drinking tea instead of snacking before bed
  5. Going to bed on time!!!

Keep my in your prayers!

Day 9: Know God's love

i know it, i have studied it. have i received it?? that is a whole other question. on this journey as a high C personality type this is a challenge for me. there are after all rules and regulations to follow, specific tasks to achieve, one MUST get it right in order to know, believe, and receive God's love???
Oh, i am SOOO glad His thoughts are not mine and his ways are higher. i am in the process of reading a few nights a week. like Gods-man, I too was an avid reader and writer in my youth. i find myself missing reading for pleasure a lot. sometimes i even blame it on my "inability" to finish a book. but i kow for sure that isnot true!! anyway, these quotes from Max Lucado's When God Whispers Your Name was particularly fitting for todays challenge:

"He loves each of us like there was only one of us to love"

Week 4 – C.S.W.

6 weeks to GO!! Are you ready??? I’m not either, but it’s coming anyway…ha ha ha

C.S.W.

Would anyone like to rid themselves of an ever present nuisance - C.S.W. (Could-a, Should-a, Would-a)?? Where did it come from??? How do we get rid of it???? I say RIGHT NOW, let’s pack its’ bags and sent it on its’ merry way. We are going to forge ahead, keeping our eye on the goal we have set for ourselves, and remember that last year, last month, last week, yesterday, an hour ago, and even 2 minutes ago is over!!! It is literally spilled milk that you nor I can drink. Sure, there are consequences of past behavior, but that does not prevent us from moving forward………..your latter WILL BE greater!!!

Week 3

Hey ladies!!! I was off schedule last week and did not get to make the time to prepare an email. How are things going? How was everyone’s weekend? I realized that I had basically partied all weekend. I didn’t think I was capable of doing that with a husband and 2 kids, but it is possible and sooo much fun!!!! Anyway, back to the business of new beginnings.
We have 51 days left in 2008!!! What are you going to do with it?? Have you decided??

Week 2 - Set a goal

Week 2 - Set a goal

First I want to applaud Q for her 40 days for life fast from sugar and sweets…GREAT JOB Q!!!!!! She set a goal and is about to achieve it!!!! Q, you have a few days left…..you can do it!!! We are all very proud of you!!!!!

I have not heard from any of you about this challenge. Is anyone out there? Hello, hello……………. We have 64 days left until 2009. I am determined to ring in the New Year as a different person. Have you guys set your destination or target?

Here are some tips for goal setting:
1. Make sure the goal you are working for is something you really want, not just something that sounds good.
2. Make sure it is specific, get detailed. Draw a clear picture in your mind
3. Write your goal in the positive instead of the negative- use words of FAITH

SMART Goals:
A useful way of making goals more powerful is to use the SMART mnemonic.

While there are plenty of variants, SMART usually stands for:
• S Specific
• M Measurable
• A Attainable
• R Relevant
• T Time-bound

11 Week Challenge - Week 1

Week 1- Get a map!

The navigation system in your computer or car won't work without entering a
destination! Our minds work in a similar way -> without a clear idea of where we want to go, our attention is divided, and we will get lost wandering around wondering......

To get where you want to go, you need a map. To get a map, you need a destination. Where do you want to end up at Week 11? What is your new beginning-->> Write that down!!! Don't think about it. Now go back and read it. Keep thinking about your new beginning this week, really consider what your destination will be.

Take care and have a great week. For those whoe would like to share their thoughts, issues, or concerns we are here to listen. If you are not comfortable sharing publicly, find someone you are comfirtable with and share with them!

**Without a target to hit, how will you aim? where will the arrows end up?

11 Week Challenge

A group of friends and I have decided to start an 11 week challenge. As of October 17 we are determined to enter into 2009 as new creations! Here is the first installment sent to the group:

New Beginning Challenge

Tried before? Succeeded? Failed? Need some motivation??

There are 75 days left in 2008 (about 11 weeks)!!! Can you believe it?? 2008was said to be the year of new beginnings. What new beginning have you experienced in your life?? I want to experience a new level of healthy living before the year is out. For me this means losing weight, eating right, and de-stressing!!!! How about you?? What would you like to experience??

Let’s journey together these last 11 weeks of 2008 to create a new beginning for ourselves, before the reality of a new year comes without any change!!!

11 Week challenge:
1. Determine a new beginning
2. Set a goal – big or small
3. Get some buddies
4. Get started!!!

For those who are interested, we can keep in touch at least weekly via email. Let’s walk into 2009 with something to celebrate…
