Prayers- Weeks 7-9

Life has distracted me from my writing lately, but here is a recap of where I am:

The journey through this new series, The Story, has been eye opening.  It has opened my eyes to reveal some interesting things to me about ME.  Isn't that the point of scripture and study!!!  2 Tim3:16 says:

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (ESV)

I have definitely been taught, rebuked, corrected, and trained over these last 9 weeks! I would describe the overarching theme as: Expand your definitions.

Definitions of what you might ask?  EVERYTHING....God's thoughts are no the same as my thoughts ...HIS ways are MUCH MUCH higher than mines...HIS vision sees MUCH MUCH farther than mine will ever see. I am constantly asking myself, what are God's thoughts toward this or that, what re mine, how do the 2 differ, and what MUST I LET GO of to receive and/or see what God sees??

Therefore, I pray to my Heavenly Father:
Continue to show me your ways, teach me your paths, and guide me in your truth. You are my God, my savior, and in you I place all of my hope.

Prayers: Week 5 and 6

Commandments and Wandering

God, I pray that we take your word more seriously, that we allow ourselves to see the Bible is literally "God breathed", as words that come directly out of your mouth.  That your words would have weight on our spirits and implant a burning desire within us to read, dissect, and digest it more and more each and everyday.
I pray that desire would drive us to understand that the commands you give (both Old and New Testament) are fulfilled in Jesus' death on the cross, and our receipt of him as our savior enable us to enjoy the freedom he purchased for us.  So whether we are wandering, searching, or anything else, we are free in Christ to do so AND your Holy Spirit on the inside of us is guiding, beckoning, and interceding on our behalf.  Expand our minds to see that God - all of God- The Father, The Son (Jesus), and The Holy Spirit- You are on our side.  Help us see the great benefit this has for us!

In Jesus Name Amen!

Prayers: Week 4

Deliverance

Webster's dictionary describes 'deliverer' as:

1. To bring or transport to the proper place or recipient; distribute
2. To surrender (someone or something) to another; hand over.
3. To secure (something promised or desired), as for a candidate or political party: campaign
4. To throw or hurl
5. To strike (a blow).
6. To express in words; declare or utter
7.
a. To give birth to
b. To assist (a woman) in giving birth
c. To assist or aid in the birth of
8. To give forth or produce
9. To set free, as from misery, peril, or evil
v.intr.
1. To produce or achieve what is desired or expected; make good

I believe ALL of these apply to God's ability to deliver and continue to deliver His children out of where they are INTO the purpose HE has for them.

God, you are the perfect deliverer. Throughout the stories in the Bible you prove yourself over and over to be the one who transports to the proper place, the one who secures what you yourself have promised, the one who declares and expresses promises over your children, and the ONE WHO SETS FREE from misery or peril.  I thank you Lord for being all of who you are and more! In Jesus name AMEN.

Space and Food

On this post, I talked about reactivating. TODAY, I would say almost the exact same thing.....EXCEPT now I have learned that for me "reactivating" happens every time there is a decision to be made about food.

Recently I have reduced the amount of pressure I put on my joints, in other words, I lost weight. 30ish pounds to be exact! It is a major accomplishment for me but at the same time a thorn in my side.  About the time I stopped blogging in late 2009/early 2010, I started to develop, I mean nurture bad habits again. I had lost about 35 pounds back then, and through a series of very challenging circumstances (aka "life")  I decided to put my health and my priorities on the back-burner. As a result, I gained the weight back and developed high blood pressure.

In a leadership class a few weeks ago, the facilitator made a simple comment in passing regarding resolving conflict. She said "Put some space between stimulus and your response. That space is where a decision/choice is made".  That really struck me as it applies to living a healthier lifestyle and wisely choosing what to put into my mouth.  I can now freely admit that I am an emotional eater, I stuff emotions down and try to put LOTS of effort into keeping them stuffed. Which means I was living in complete denial!  Looking back, as I was growing up I don't recall being taught how to deal with emotions or how to eat healthy. To ADD to that I my personality leans HEAVILY toward perfectionism.

More to come as I process through this.................

Prayers: Week 3

Dreams

God, you are the author of my life and confess that I have several areas of unbelief present in my life.
In spite of your Word and what I have experienced, I still doubt that your plan is better.  I pray that you would increase my capacity of belief in you, your ways, and all that your Word says.  For my brothers and sisters in Christ, I pray that you would do the same.....relieve the burdens on the minds and within the spirits of your people.  Give us the courage to release everything to you and embrace the vision (dream) that you have for us all. Reveal to your dreams, your ways to us.  Remind us of the things we have forgotten. Make the details fresh, revive the passion within them. In Jesus name amen.

These verses come to mind:

Psalm 24:3
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

Psalm 25:3-4
No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
    who are treacherous without cause.

Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

Prayers: Week 2

God Builds a Nation

God is the Author of life. He set forth to build a nation to fulfill his purposes, even after sin entered into the world.  God's plan is to restore everything according to His will, His plan, and in His way.

Heb 10:15-18
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then he adds:
“Their sins and lawless acts
    I will remember no more.”
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

How great is God that he would not allow anything to stop His plan from being fulfilled. No mistake, failure, evil....nothing will prevent God's plan from being fulfilled.

Are we paying attention to God's work around us?

Prayers- Week 1

I decided to share a prayer I have.  In keeping with The Story series we are walking through at church, I've decided to write out a prayer based on Week 1's topic.

Week 1: Creation
Prayer for my pastors:

Most high God of all creation, you have displayed your creative mind, your power and glory since the beginning of time. I pray that Pastor Paul, Pastor Carlton, and Pastor Dave experience you in a more real way each and every day. You have not hidden your ways of the very essence of yourself, you are in full view and I pray that they see you, hear you, and learn from you. open their minds, their eyes, and most of all their spirits to you. In Jesus name, Amen!

Isa 46:9 says:

Remember the former things, those of long ago;
    I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.’

It's been a long long LONG hiatus but I'm getting back to writing....

Where have I been?  That is hard to describe other than on a journey off the path of what is best for my soul.  More to come on that......

30 Day Challenge- Who am I?

I am joining in with my favorite blogger, God's Man, for this new 30 Day challenge....we'll see what happens!

the question Who Am I? has always been a difficult one to answer for me. I am a straight shooter who does not place much value in using too many words, although I love to write.....go figure. I have also determined that I am a "Set it and forget it" type of person, which doesn't work well in a life full of constant change!

In Summary I would say that I am a daughter to the Most High God, loving wife to a GREAT hubby, mother to 2 powerful young women while I rendezvous at work and entertain my friends and family with my funny jokes and LOUD laugh.

Let's see where this challenge will go! High FIVE to my girl Momo for her 30 Day challenge post!

Don't Quit: Reactivating

Don’t Quit. No more slacking. Do your best and forget the rest!!!

I have to admit I have not been living this out the past 4 months or so. I won’t dwell on it, I will simply reactivate! I will do what I KNOW to do and what I KNOW works.

The Who: Me, Myself and I

The Why: because I have to live out what I will be teaching people. I am the leader going to the front line going before them to clear the road. I am the watchman on the tower scoping out the terrain for pitfalls and impending attacks.

The How:

·       workout: Hybrid - P90X, P90X Plus, exercise TV, 10K training

·       nutrition: p90x Phases 1,2, and 3

·       lifestyle: go to bed on time, prior planning, i.e. prioritize

Did I miss anything?
